Kasey Kahne's 12th-place finish in the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway allowed him to maintain his position ninth in the standings.
Kahne and Chase Elliott have been the class of the field for Hendrick Motorsports in the first two races. At Vegas, the driver of the No. 5 finished one position behind teammate Jimmie Johnson and that makes him a more consistent value overall. Johnson continues to be outside the top 16 and is not currently in playoff contention.
