Ryan Newman battles for 8th in STP 500

Ryan Newman bulldogged his way through the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway and earned his second top-10 of the season. He finished eighth after starting 11th.

This confirmed his strength at Phoenix International Raceway two weeks ago. He won the Camping World 500 with strategy, but had a top-10 capable car nevertheless. That victory is surrounded by a pair of mid-teens results on unrestricted, intermediate speedways. Fantasy owners should expect a result in the teens at Texas Motor Speedway next week and then a challenge for top-10s on the next two short tracks.
